Below you will find some general, but pertinent, information about traveling to India, and answers to a few frequently asked questions on the conference. Please contact us at hello@tavant.com if you have any further questions or concerns.
Q. What documents should I carry?
- You will need to carry a hard copy of the following documents when traveling to India (also keep soft copies as a precaution):
- International/Domestic air tickets (will need to show printed versions at the airport)
- Valid passport and visa OR e-visa/ETA confirmation. India visa documents follow the DD-MM-YYYY format.
- Hotel confirmations (the international arrival card requires a hotel address at your city of entry)
Q. What is the immigration process at the airport?
- All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian mission/post abroad or e-Visa. Several airports, including Bangalore (Bengaluru), Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, allow entering on e-Visa (ETA)
- There are separate counters/lines for an e-visa and a regular visa. Make sure that you are in the appropriate counters so that there are no delays in the process.
- Foreign nationals need to fill out an international arrival card at the port of entry. However, no departure card is necessary while flying out (rules are different for Indian nationals). Your Tavant representative will guide you through the procedure for a smooth transfer.
Q. Will I be transported from the Airport to the Hotel?
- Tavant representatives will receive you at the Aerobridge to help you through the immigration process and direct you toward your designated cab.
- Hotel confirmations will be emailed to you shortly. If you do not receive them by Nov 7, please contact hello@tavant.com

Q. What precautions should you take while you travel?
- We have taken many measures to ensure that your travel to our engage2024 conference will be as seamless as possible. However, please take into consideration any standard travel precautions:
- Bring along any medications that you may need in your carry-on luggage
- Make sure your phone has enough charge in case you need it for emergency purposes
- The plug sockets and voltage (240V) are unique to India. Please be sure to carry adapters/plug converters for any electronics that you may use during the trip. (phones, laptops, etc.)
- Keep soft and hard copies of all your travel documents, etc.
Q. How much foreign currency can one hold in India, and where should I exchange my currency? Can I use my international Credit/Debit cards?
- Generally, you will not need to hold much cash for the engage2024 conference. Tips are optional in India, and you will only need cash if you would like to shop at local markets. Remember to always bargain! USD10 is a significant amount in India's street markets.
- Visa, Mastercard, and Amex are widely accepted in India. We recommend that you inform your Credit/Debit card issuing bank of your travel plans and include the dates of travel and destination. Communicating with your bank beforehand can alleviate any activation hassles.
- You can exchange currency at the airport or hotel. ATMs are also widely available.
Q. What are some of India’s cultural norms that I should be aware of?
- You can communicate in English in most places, as people in India speak it fluently. People are also aware that there will be differences in customs so you will be pardoned for any cultural mishaps.
- Some general things to be aware of:
- Namaste is pronounced as “Na-ma-stay” and people all over India use this word as a gesture (palms together in a prayer-like position and a slight head nod) when they meet each other and say goodbye.
- It is less common in India for people to hug each other, so a business handshake will always be appropriate. However, you will find people, in general, to be extremely friendly and welcoming!
- Have some INR on hand if you would like to shop at local markets and always bargain the initial price.
- In India, footwear is considered unclean, so if you happen to enter a personal home or place of worship, you will most likely need to remove your shoes.
Q. What is the schedule of events?
- You will be provided with a detailed and personalized itinerary before your trip. For a general engage2024 schedule, please check tavantengage.com
Q. What is the dress code?
- The dress code for the engage2024 conference is business casual. During evening events, you will find the majority of the delegates in cocktail attire. The Tavant Excellence Awards (on Friday evening) is a great time to show off any authentic Indian apparel you may have purchased during your trip!
Q. How is the weather?
- November is one of the best times to visit New Delhi, Agra, and Bangalore. Generally, the weather will be sunny and pleasant. However, it may get chilly at night or in the morning (or in different regions of the country), so keep a jacket with you or dress in layers. See below for the weather forecast for cities you may visit during the engage2024 conference.
- New Delhi (November 10 - 16)

- Bengaluru (November 10 - 16)
